The RSC is embarking on a Roadmap project to help demonstrate how the chemical sciences can tackle and provide innovative solutions to the real and perceived issues facing society. Possible priority areas have already been identified and the RSC are looking to hold a series of workshops in May to further the debate. We are looking for individuals with the expertise and/or an interest in any one of the following exploration workshops:
Date Exploration workshops held at Burlington House, London
9th May Session 1: Improving Human Health & wellbeing
14th May Session 2: Improving Quality of Life: infrastructure, transport, built environment
15th May Session 3: Harnessing and storing energy from Sunlight Session 4: Alternative Feedstocks and Technologies for Chemicals and Fuels
20th May Session 5: Replicating and learning from Nature
21st May Session 6: Forensics and Security
22nd May Session 7: Public Perception
28th May Session 8: Improving Quality of Life: leisure and consumer lifestyle
If you are interested in participating in an exploration workshop, please contact Farrah Bhatti at bhattif@rsc.org by the 30 April. The involvement of the chemical science community is vital to the process and I would appreciate if you could circulate this email to all your committee members and contacts who may be interested. Nominations should include name, interest group/organisation and the chosen exploration workshop.
Interested parties are also encouraged to register for the online roadmap consultation taking place in June. Registration and further information can be found at www.rsc.org/roadmap.
